Program Overview
On 26 August 2026, a catastrophic flash flood swept through Nepal’s Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river valleys, devastating communities across Rasuwa and neighbouring districts. The sudden surge of water, mud, ice and debris destroyed homes, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure, leaving thousands displaced and entire communities difficult to reach. Search, rescue and evacuation efforts remain ongoing.
The scale of the disaster continues to unfold. Recent reports indicate hundreds of lives have been lost, thousands remain missing, and widespread damage to essential infrastructure has left survivors facing urgent needs for safe shelter, food and clean water.
Waves For Water is mobilizing through its W4W Nepal and India country offices to respond to the immediate need for safe drinking water.
Our first priority is to install clean water access points for evacuees in evacuation sites at ground zero.

These filtration systems will allow displaced families to treat available water locally, providing a reliable source of safe drinking water while reducing dependence on bottled-water deliveries.
As access to affected communities improves, we will continue working through our local network to assess where additional clean water support is most needed.
Your support will help us get safe water to families displaced by the floods, helping reduce the risk of disease at a time when damaged infrastructure and disrupted systems can make drinking water much harder to access.
