Program Overview

In mid-September of this year, twin storms Ingrid and Manuel pummeled Mexico, killing at least 41 people and forcing the evacuation of tens of thousands amid some of the worst flooding in decades. Guerrero state was hit hardest. We teamed up with Cadena, a humanitarian aid organization based in Mexico City, and headed down. We encountered flooded villages and displaced communities -- but also great resilience and optimism.

Special thanks to YIO and Roy Hausmann of UMS for relationships that enabled the project to happen so quickly.
