Fundraiser Overview
Pure water is the world’s first and foremost medicine – Slovakian Proverb
Clean water is a basic need, reflected upon the sanitation of an environment and a natural right; not a privilege or often a choice.
On September 6th, Hurricane Irma demolished Antigua and Barbuda, with a damage estimation at 90% destruction of the dual island nation’s infrastructure. This is just one example, as many other islands were annihilated, in similar fashion. When it was all said and done, many Caribbean islands found themselves in the path of Hurricane Irma and those that did not, still felt the impact of the unprecedented size of this powerful storm.
It is easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of help needed due to these recent natural disasters. Still, the priority for survival is clean drinking water. That is why we have chosen the Hurricane Irma Relief Initiative through the Waves for Water (W4W) program to support, which focuses on helping people obtain access to clean water in underserved local communities which often get overlooked.
What happens when you donate to the clean water initiative? Since this issue of clean water needs to be addressed quickly, the Hurricane Irma Relief Initiative has come up with three phases to reduce the spread of waterborne disease and issues of dehydration: 1. Implementation of portable water filtration systems in communities living at or below the poverty level. 2. Address breakdowns in water infrastructure through the creation of large and centrally located water depots. 3. Assessment and analysis of data pertaining to phases 1 and 2 in order to design and implement long-term mechanisms to change the way water is accessed for years to come (i.e. sustainability through practical implementation – borehole wells, permaculture etc.)
While for many, the daily struggle of maintaining positive mental health as a result of the current political climate is real, the immense amount of need continues to rise. Keep the good people close and try to soak in the ‘small joys’ daily which keep us moving forward. Consider taking a positive step towards action today by assisting with a donation to this clean water initiative. Any and all amounts help. There is no such thing as too small a donation. 100% of the proceeds go to the Hurricane Irma Relief Initiative.
We wanted to assist in relieving some of the need. This group effort can make a difference. Please share this relief effort with your co-workers, families, friends and others. Together, we can help provide clean water to the communities with the greatest need. We thank you for your consideration and most importantly for your donation.
Love, positivity, & happiness (stay strong),
