Project Overview
<p>My name is Jon Macik and I am a student in New York City. I will be traveling with my good friend Dan Sanchez for a few weeks through Bocas Del Toro, Panama this coming January 2019 in hopes of scoring some surf! In addition, we will be collaborating with the local surf community of Bocas and hope to explore the many neighboring (and less developed) islands of this archipelago to meet with local communities and provide water filters to improve the accessibility of clean drinking water. </p><p>This past May 2018, I participated in a courier project in El Salvador that was arranged by my good friend Benjamin Mallin. Along with Pablo Schildknecht and crew of TropicalFreaks and Roberto Zuleta of Surf El Salvador, we were able to provide the community of El Palmarcito with over 30 water filters, all with ease! </p><p>Check it out here: https://www.wavesforwater.org/courier/benj-and-yasi-go-to-el-salvador</p><p>Signing up to be a clean water courier is one way to do more than travel for a wave but to actively participate within a culture of wonderful people. Please consider contributing to our goal of 50 filters. We will cover all costs of buckets and on the ground logistics.
