Project Overview

Musotte is a rural village, nestled atop the arid mountains of Eastern Haiti. It is a farming village, where many houses are huts with dirt floors, where its inhabitants often use donkeys for transportation and the nearest hospital is a 45 minute drive away (by car...who knows how long by donkey or on foot). It was quickly realized that these people had very little, not even a simple pain reliever in their possession. Embarking on a medical mission to the town of Musotte, Haiti, bringing a full operational medical clinic and medications for a year until the next clinic and providing the people a chance at health also requires looking at accessible clean water.

The main water source is RAIN. Most of the people have a small cistern where they collect the water however, water preservation is very poor as the cisterns are dirty and can even have dead rats in them, unknown to the people, yet they drink that water. In the dry season, water is scarce and they share water among them or go to the closest river which is about 7-10 miles away.

Identifying ways to improve the public health of the community will directly improve physical health and decrease illnesses and diseases directly related to drinking contaminated water. Together with Waves For Water, we hope to establish clean water for the entire community.

$2,500 will provide 50 filters, which has the capacity to provide clean water for to the entire community of 5,000 people for the next 5 years.

Please help in bringing clean water to the village of Musotte and deeply impacting the health of this community.
